Many of us have learned about ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and how the toxic stress encountered in childhood can affect people mentally and physically for the rest of their lives. There are definitely roles for librarians as part of communities to help build resilience. And there are some great evidence-based resources about how to work with people who have experienced trauma. Check out this article about a school that inspired a whole community in Washington to shift the way they work with teens who have experienced trauma. It made me want to learn more!
