Teens enjoying stations |
Thanks to Karissa Zastrow, the new Teen Programming Librarian in Altoona, for this guest post!
On
Friday, February 26th, the Altoona Public library held a Teen Fandom
Fest (ages 12-18) as an after hours event. We provided free pizza, cookies,
soda, water, nacho cheese and chips, along with the supplies for the
activities. The teens spent the evenings making Harry Potter wands, duct tape
bow ties, buttons, bookmarks, sharpie mugs, and Anime drawings.

Half-way through
we started the trivia game where teams competed against each other to see who
knew the most about the different fandoms. After a very competitive and fun
trivia game, the winning team was rewarded with bragging rights and candy. The
teens were encouraged to dress up and each dressed up teen was given a number.

Who doesn't love an excuse to dress up? |
Throughout the evening, other teens could vote on who had the best costume. The
winner was given a Hot Topic gift card. At the end of the night we raffled off
four Action City passes to four lucky winners, who had to be present. As the
teens were leaving, both the teens and the parents commented on how much fun
they had and how they hope we do it again. Overall, Teen Fandom Fest was a
large success.
