Welcome!

Welcome to this latest attempt to connect librarians from west-central Wisconsin with each other! Please send in content (booklists, ideas, photos, etc.), and comment on posts so we can help each other. If you were using feedmyinbox to get new posts sent to you before, you'll need to switch to another service (blogtrottr works like feedmyinbox, googlereader is a good blog-reader to try).

Inclusive Summer Reading Programs

I came across a YALSA blog post with some simple, easy-to-replicate tips for making your Summer Library Program more inclusive and accessible for kids and teens with disabilities. If our goal is to help reduce the summer slide, kids and teens with disabilities are very important to include, since data shows that graduation rates for students with disabilities are significantly lower than those without.  It is good to know that you don't have to re-vamp your whole program to make it easier for everyone to participate, there are a few small tweaks that can make it easier to participate!
