Welcome to this latest attempt to connect librarians from west-central Wisconsin with each other! Please send in content (booklists, ideas, photos, etc.), and comment on posts so we can help each other. If you were using feedmyinbox to get new posts sent to you before, you'll need to switch to another service (blogtrottr works like feedmyinbox, googlereader is a good blog-reader to try).

Teen Top Ten, National Book Award Finalists Announced

Wow, what a great bonanza of book suggestions!  Time for a book display?  Time to do a little reading to see what you think?  See what you think of the following:

Teens Top Ten is announced every year during Young Adult Library Service Association (YALSA) Teen Read Week.  Teens have a chance to vote on their favorite books from a list of nominees (selected by teen book groups).  You can see a list with short annotations, too.   There has been lots of buzz about many of these titles, how many have you read?  How many are in your collection?  These are books that reading teens have voted on--if you don't have them, maybe you should...

#1:  Divergent by Veronica Roth
#2:  The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
#3:  Legend by Marie Lu
#4:  Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
#5:  What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen
#6:  Across the Universe by Beth Revis
#7:  Cinder by Marissa Meyer
#8:  The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
#9:  Where She Went by Gayle Forman
#10:  Abandon by Meg Cabot

The National Book Award has listed its group of finalists for Literature for Young People for the 2012 Award, too.  It looks like I have a few books to add to my reading list!

Alexander, William.  Goblin Secrets
Arcos, Carrie.  Out of Reach
McCormick, Patricia.  Never Fall Down
Schrefer, Eliot.  Engdangered
Sheinkin, Steve.  Bomb:  The Race to Build--and Steal--the World's Most Dangerous Weapon
