The Illinois Service Resource Center has put together
American Sign Language Literacy Packets available for viewing and/or downloading on our website. These packets are based on seven popular picture books (such as Eric Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar, Marcus Pfister's Rainbow Fish, and the classic tale I Know an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly). Each packet includes a description and demonstration of the ASL signs necessary to read the book; three literacy activities - with all related handouts and manipulatives - are also included in each packet. They are available as an e-book or a pdf. Pretty cool! Take a peek!
Also, if you are thinking about book groups for the fall, the Multnomah County Library in Oregon has a
great resource online with discussion questions, ideas about best practices, etc. More peeking is in order.
