Science Fun at the Library!

Colleen Crowley, the children's librarian at the Chippewa Falls Public Library, sent a note about a great project they are doing in Chippewa Falls:

Librarians do not need to be experts at scientific theory to guide scientific inquiry with children. Opportunities to have fun with children exist every day using household materials as well as standard science equipment. The Chippewa Falls Children's Dept obtained funding through the Rutledge Foundation to pursue science programming on a continuous basis.

One of the first programs we did was a two-hour science Saturday program on February 19.52 children, plus their parents came and tried out 9 different experiments and activities. The program's success was due mainly to the volunteers-local National Honor Society students that were recruited to guide the children through the experiments. The library
plans to do more science programming during the summer reading program, as well
as in the fall. If you would like to know more about these programs, please
contact Colleen Crowley at the Chippewa Falls Library.
